The Parliament of Armenia has adopted in the second and final reading a bill introducing the so-called "parental hour" for working citizens with children.
According to the new rules, parents with one or two children under 12 years old will be able to receive up to 30 minutes of working time per day for family tasks. This time will be considered working time and will not affect the amount of wages.
For families with three or more children, as well as for parents of children with severe disabilities, an extended norm is provided – up to one hour per day. The measure is aimed at supporting families with an increased burden of childcare.
The law applies to both the public and private sectors, making it mandatory for all employers in the country.
