Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the agreement between the Armenian operator Team Telecom Armenia and the Azerbaijani company AzerTelecom on mutual transit of internet traffic, stating that it strengthens Armenia's position rather than creating dependence.

According to him, transit flows do not make the country through which they pass vulnerable, but rather create dependence for the end recipients of the traffic. He noted that such logic is fundamental to understanding infrastructure processes in telecommunications.

Pashinyan emphasized the strategic goal of transforming Armenia into a regional transit hub within the framework of the "Crossroads of Peace" concept. According to him, increasing transit volumes – be it internet traffic, roads, or other communications – enhances the country's economic and political weight.

Earlier, Team Telecom Armenia announced the launch of commercial exchange of transit internet traffic with the Azerbaijani side. The industry is discussing both the potential benefits of the scheme, including the creation of alternative communication routes, and possible risks associated with dependence on infrastructure chains.
