The 8th meeting of the Public Investment Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, approved several major infrastructure projects for the capital of Armenia.
One of the key decisions was the advancement of the "Achapnyak" metro station project. It is moving into a practical phase: the authorities plan to approach international partners, gather technical and financial proposals, and select a contractor who will ensure the fastest possible tender procedures.
A large-scale modernization of the Yerevan Metro has been approved as a separate direction. The program includes updating rolling stock, track infrastructure, carriages, and key infrastructure elements. Implementation will be phased, taking into account the priorities and interconnectedness of all system components.
The purchase of 250 18-meter electric buses has also been approved. This step effectively initiates the transition of Yerevan's urban public transport to a fully electric basis.
The total volume of the approved investment package is $650 million.
