Armenia has not yet chosen almost a third of preferential electric vehicles: 3200 duty-free quotas remain

Of the allocated 12,000 slots for duty-free import, about 8800 have been used, and dealers have utilized less than half of their quota.

In Armenia, 3198 quotas for duty-free import of electric vehicles are still available. As of July 1, 2026, 8802 quotas have been used out of a total limit of 12,000 vehicles.

According to Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, a separate part of the preferential limit was provided for official car dealers. They were allocated 3,000 quotas, of which 1477 have been utilized. Thus, dealers still have the opportunity to import another 1523 electric vehicles without paying import duties.

The duty-free import program aims to accelerate Armenia's transition to environmentally friendly transport and expand the electric vehicle market. The availability of free quotas allows for continued supply of new models to the country under preferential conditions.
