Armenia and EU Launch Dialogue on AI and Cybersecurity: Countries Prepare New Digital Projects

Yerevan and Brussels Discussed Digital Society Development, Data Protection, and AI Implementation in Public Administration

Armenia and the European Union discussed expanding cooperation in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The negotiations took place between the First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, Gevorg Mantashyan, and an EU delegation led by Stefano Tomat, Executive Director of the Civilian Operations Command of the European External Action Service.

The parties discussed the work of the EU Partnership Mission in Armenia (EUPM Armenia), which will provide advisory support to the country's state structures, conduct expert assessments, training, and implement technical assistance projects.

Special attention was paid to digital development and the exchange of experience with European countries. Mantashyan presented the Armenian government's plans for creating a digital society, developing reliable information systems, strengthening cyber protection, and improving legislation in the technological sphere.

The meeting participants also considered the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence in public administration and its role in strengthening national cybersecurity.

Armenia and the EU confirmed their readiness to continue joint projects in digital technologies, specialist training, and strengthening state institutions.
