New ID cards have arrived in the country, and the issuance of modern passports will begin this autumn.

Mass production of new generation biometric passports for Armenia has started in the Netherlands. The symbolic launch of the process took place at the French company IN Groupe's facility in Haarlem, where Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan initiated the printing by pressing the start button.

The first batches of new biometric ID cards have already been delivered to Armenia. The first batches of new passports will also arrive in the country soon.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the issuance of new generation documents will begin this autumn. They will be available not only in Yerevan but also in new offices that will open in various regions of the country. The transition to modern biometric documents will enhance protection against counterfeiting, accelerate identity verification, and simplify the use of electronic government services, as well as border control procedures abroad.
