The World Bank has stated that Russia's restrictions on the supply of Armenian agricultural and food products pose risks to Armenia's economy. This is according to the June Armenia Monthly Economic Update 2026.

According to the organization's assessment, despite the country's economy currently performing better than expected, further expansion of Russian restrictions without compensatory measures could negatively impact not only foreign trade, but also economic growth rates, price levels, and the social situation.

The World Bank recalled that since late April, Russia has been gradually expanding the ban on imports of a number of Armenian goods. In response, the Armenian government launched an exporter support program, providing compensation for transport and customs costs when supplying products to alternative markets, including European Union countries.

Experts note that the further development of the situation will depend on the duration of the restrictions and the effectiveness of measures to reorient exports to new destinations.
