Yerevan Launches Apple Pay and Google Pay for Public Transport

The new payment option is available on buses, trolleybuses, and the metro in the Armenian capital.

Public transport in Yerevan now offers payment via Apple Pay and Google Pay. This was announced by Mayor Tigran Avinyan.

The new payment method is already operational on both ground public transport and the Yerevan Metro. To pay, passengers simply need to tap their smartphone or smartwatch with a linked bank card to the terminal.

In addition to Apple Pay and Google Pay, passengers can pay using a transport card, a contactless bank card from most local banks (excluding VTB), and through the Telcell Wallet app.

Paper single-use tickets with QR codes were discontinued in Yerevan back in August 2025. Expanding the list of digital payment methods is another step in the development of a modern public transport system in the Armenian capital.
