Armenia has begun discussions with the United States on the process of obtaining market economy status. This issue was discussed by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and US Chargé d'Affaires ad interim in Armenia David Allen.

The parties noted the positive dynamics in economic relations between the two countries and emphasized progress in the development of bilateral cooperation. The Armenian Ministry of Economy stated that interaction with the US could help advance the process of obtaining the new status.

Gevorg Papoyan expressed confidence that the further development of the economic agenda between the countries will strengthen partnership and create additional opportunities for trade and investment. Edward Eikler, Head of the Economic and Commercial Section of the US Embassy, also participated in the meeting.
