Armenia's Capital Market Gains Momentum: Companies Increasingly Raise Funds Through Bonds

Further development of the capital market can contribute to the growth of Armenia's economy.

Armenia continues to expand, and the growth of investment instruments can become one of the additional sources of economic development. Experts note an increase in interest from both businesses and private investors.

Arman Barseghyan, Director of Retail Banking at Ameriabank, stated that the country's capital market will continue to develop at a high pace in the coming years. According to him, particularly significant growth is observed in the bond segment, but interest in other types of securities is also gradually increasing.

Among the factors contributing to market development, Barseghyan named increased economic transparency, a reduction in the share of shadow business, and improved quality of corporate reporting. In his estimation, these changes create conditions for more active fundraising through market instruments.

Another important factor is the growing number of citizens with savings who are ready to invest. The formation of domestic demand encourages companies to use bonds and other instruments to attract capital. Ameriabank reported that as of June 30, 2026, the bank's own bond portfolio reached 160 billion drams.

Also in 2026, Ameriabank fully placed its first perpetual bonds totaling $100 million. The issue was divided into two tranches, placed in February and April. According to Barseghyan, further development of the capital market can become an additional factor in the growth of Armenia's economy.
