The World Bank has revised its economic growth forecast for Armenia for 2026, lowering it from 5.9% to 5.3%. As explained by Armine Manukyan, Senior Economist at the World Bank's representative office, the reasons are ongoing uncertainty and the potential impact of the conflict in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the growth forecast for 2027 is 5.1%.
According to Manukyan, the current assessment was prepared in April, and in September, the World Bank will conduct a new analysis of the macroeconomic situation, after which the forecast may be adjusted to reflect recent developments.
The economist noted that after a period of very high growth rates, Armenia's economy is gradually returning to a more sustainable dynamic. While the country's GDP grew by 12.6% in 2022, by the end of 2025, the figure reached 7.1%, exceeding the World Bank's previous expectations. The organization believes that in the medium term, economic growth will continue to slow down and approach its potential level.
