Armenia received an additional quota from the EEC Council for the duty-free import of 5,000 electric vehicles in 2026. This was announced by the country's Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan.
The new limit was allocated amidst the rapid exhaustion of the previously established quota of 15,000 vehicles. As of August 5, importers who are not official dealer-distributors had already used 93% of the available volume – only 784 vehicles remained free.
For official dealers, the situation was less tense: they had used 58% of the allocated quota, with 1269 electric vehicles remaining.
Thus, the additional quota should support electric vehicle deliveries to Armenia until the end of the year and prevent the premature cessation of preferential imports.
