Armenia expects to achieve full energy independence, but this does not mean abandoning international electricity trade. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Yerevan allows both import and export of electricity, including cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
According to the head of government, Armenia already has experience in energy cooperation with Iran and Georgia and is ready to expand such ties in the future. Possible trade with Azerbaijan is becoming part of a larger discussion on restoring regional infrastructure.
Pashinyan also noted that investors' plans to build artificial intelligence-related enterprises in Armenia are forcing a review of the country's energy strategy. New projects will require significantly more available generating capacity.
Speaking about plans for the construction of new power lines, the Prime Minister recalled working meetings between Armenian and Azerbaijani specialists in 2025–2026. The parties also discussed the laying of power lines, pipelines and cables, as well as the development of railway communication.
