S&P gave Armenia a new signal: rating unchanged, but growth chances increased

The international agency confirmed Armenia's sovereign rating

The international agency confirmed Armenia's sovereign rating at 'BB-/B' and maintained a positive outlook.

S&P noted the country's stable macroeconomic policy, good growth prospects, and gradual reduction of the debt burden. An additional factor could be the strengthening of external reserves and further improvement of relations with Azerbaijan – this could reduce Armenia's geopolitical and foreign economic risks.

However, the rating remains below investment grade: the 'BB-' category is considered speculative. Nevertheless, maintaining a positive outlook means that with further strengthening of external stability and reduction of geopolitical risks, S&P may upgrade Armenia's assessment.
