The Armenian government has reallocated 1.1 billion drams to finance works and obligations for various sections of the international North-South Road Corridor. The decision was made at a government meeting on August 27.
According to Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khoudatyan, the funds will be used to pay for part of the construction costs, technical supervision, compensation to landowners, program management expenses, and design.
Part of the funding will be directed towards the restoration of the M6 interstate highway, the reconstruction of the Pushkin Tunnel, and the construction of a new Dilijan Tunnel. A separate direction is work in the south of the country, including the Kajaran–Agarak section and the Kajaran Tunnel.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the construction of the Kajaran–Agarak section and the tunnel is progressing at a high pace. According to him, in 2018–2025, the volume of capital investments in Armenia exceeded the Soviet-era figures of 1981–1988.
