Construction has begun on three major road projects in Yerevan. As reported by Mayor Tigran Avinyan, the works will include an overpass in Noragavit, a new road between Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues, and the completion of the Babajanyan Street – Ashtarak Highway section. The projects are designed to improve transport links and redistribute traffic flows.
The Noragavit overpass will connect the Artashat Highway, the M2 "North-South" highway, the H-8 road, and Noragavit's 1st Street. The project cost is estimated at approximately 1.3 billion drams. Another large-scale project involves the construction of a road between Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues and a 269-meter reinforced concrete bridge over the Hrazdan River. The project is being implemented with the participation of the Asian Development Bank, and the total program funding amounts to $80 million.
The third project is a 5.8 km section of the Babajanyan – Ashtarak Highway, the construction of which had previously stalled due to legal disputes over property expropriation. Now, 270 meters of the main road and a 110-meter access road remain to be completed. After the restrictions were lifted, authorities revised the project documentation and intend to complete the work as quickly as possible.
