Armenia is discussing with the Czech Republic the possibility of supplying equipment for the construction of a new station of the Yerevan Metro. According to President Vahagn Khachaturyan, negotiations are being conducted by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudadayan with the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic. The parties are trying to determine what equipment and technologies from Czech companies can be used in the project.
According to Khachaturyan, the Czech Republic has significant experience in urban transport, dating back to the times of Czechoslovakia, when the country was known for producing trams and trolleybuses. Now, Armenia intends to assess the possibilities of using this industrial potential for new transport projects in Yerevan.
Cooperation may extend beyond equipment supplies. Earlier, Khudadayan discussed with Czech Minister of Transport Ivan Bednárik the expansion of cooperation in urban rail transport, including technical consulting, exchange of experience, and participation of Czech companies. In addition, preliminary agreements have already been reached between the countries on a number of projects in energy, industry, and transport.
