An international consortium of Chinese, Arab, and Armenian companies has been selected as the winner of the tender for the construction and subsequent operation of a mixed municipal waste processing plant in Yerevan. This was announced by Mayor Tigran Avinyan at a meeting of the Council of Elders. A total of two companies participated in the tender.

The project is planned to be implemented on the territory of the Nubarashen landfill on the outskirts of Yerevan. The open two-stage tender was announced by the city hall in December 2025. In preparing the terms, the authorities collaborated with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank, considering the construction of a new landfill simultaneously with a waste processing plant.

Now, Yerevan needs to agree on the specific scope of work with the winning consortium and formalize the necessary agreements. The financial terms of the project have not yet been disclosed. It is expected that the new complex will modernize the municipal waste management system in the Armenian capital.
