The Armenian government will allocate 1.98 billion drams for the improvement and major repair of roads leading to 14 schools in the regions. This was announced on Friday at a cabinet meeting by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khoudatyan. The funds will come from the redistribution of an already approved budget. At the current exchange rate, this is about 5.4 million dollars.
The works will affect Aragatsotn, Armavir, Lori, Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Tavush regions. According to the project, the total length of the sections is 9.8 kilometers. Construction has already begun and is at different stages depending on the specific road.
The repairs are planned to be completed in October–November of this year. A significant part of the volume, according to the minister, should be completed by contractors in September so that schools have normal access before the end of autumn.
