Armenia intends to accelerate the development of its national space industry and expects closer cooperation with France. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. The head of the Armenian government is in Paris to participate in the first International Space Summit.
Pashinyan thanked Macron for the invitation and emphasized Armenia's interest in moving towards a more substantive partnership in the space sector. According to the Prime Minister, the development of this area is becoming one of the elements of the country's long-term technological development. Macron, in turn, noted the importance of consistently deepening bilateral relations in all areas in accordance with the Armenian-French declaration on strategic cooperation.
Armenia has already moved from plans to creating its own space infrastructure: the country has launched its first satellites and is developing national competencies in this area. In the future, the authorities expect new spacecraft, the development of ground infrastructure, and the participation of Armenian engineers and companies in international projects. The French direction, in this regard, could become one of the key elements of expanding Armenia's international cooperation in the space industry.
