Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the country's readiness to diversify gas supplies amid a possible increase in its cost. According to him, the authorities are considering various scenarios and do not rule out switching to purchasing fuel from several states. Pashinyan also noted that gas in Armenia can no longer be called cheap, and a significant part of the increase in the final price is formed domestically.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the authorities are ready to look for alternatives to Russian supplies if a change in conditions leads to an increase in gas prices. At the same time, specific measures, according to him, will depend on the situation: in case of price increases, the government may revise the cost of some services that are currently provided free of charge to compensate for additional expenses. Pashinyan called for discussing such issues in a calm working format.
Separately, the Prime Minister mentioned the TRIPP project, within which Armenia could get the opportunity to lay a gas pipeline through its territory and simultaneously earn from transit. If such an option proves feasible, Yerevan is ready to consider it. Pashinyan stated that the authorities have an understanding of actions for various scenarios of the situation with gas supplies and prices.
