Russia could become Armenia's partner in the construction of the new Yerevan metro station "Achapnyak" and the further expansion of the subway, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to him, Yerevan is currently analyzing various proposals, and the Russian side has the necessary experience, since the existing metro was built according to Soviet projects.
Pashinyan noted that cooperation with Russia could simplify the implementation of the project, although it would not be possible to completely avoid difficulties. According to him, over the past years, Armenia has practically lost its competencies in metro construction, and now there is no company in the country capable of independently implementing such a project.
The "Achapnyak" station is to become the 11th in the Yerevan metro. The design documentation was developed by the Russian company "Metrogiprotrans", and the cost of the investment program is estimated at approximately 107.3 billion drams, or about $287 million. Earlier, Pashinyan also spoke about plans to create at least four new stations and form a circular route through "Achapnyak", Academic City and "Charbakh".
