Construction has begun in Yerevan on a new major transport artery, Isakov — Arshakunyats, which will connect Malatia-Sebastia, Kentron, and Shengavit. The road will be an extension of Monte Melkonyan Street and is expected to significantly change transport links between the districts.

The key object of the project will be a new bridge across the Hrazdan River, 269 meters long. In addition, transport interchanges, including a tunnel and a roundabout, will appear on Isakov and Arshakunyats avenues. The work also includes plans to reconstruct and green the area near Komitas Park.

The total length of the new road system, including ramps and secondary sections, will be 6.6 km. The main highway will have six lanes.

The project is being implemented as part of the city's development program with financial support from the Asian Development Bank. The ADB has allocated a loan of €60 million for its implementation.
