Construction of a large transport interchange at the southern entrance to Yerevan has begun

The new facility will separate incoming, outgoing and transit traffic flows and should reduce the load on one of the busiest sections

Construction of a new transport interchange has begun in Yerevan at the intersection of Artashat Highway, M2 and H8 routes, and Noragavit 1st Street. According to Mayor Tigran Avinyan, this section is one of the busiest areas at the southern entrance to the capital.

The project provides for multi-level traffic organization. As part of the work, a 272-meter overpass will be built, as well as two flyovers 28 and 22 meters long. This scheme will physically separate the main directions of movement and reduce intersections of traffic flows.

Upon completion of construction, the interchange should relieve congestion at the southern entrance to Yerevan and improve traffic flow between the city and adjacent routes. A separate task of the project will be to increase the capacity of the transport direction associated with the North-South international corridor.
