Armenia Bets on Physical AI to Bring Engineering Developments to the Global Market

The anniversary Engineering Week 2026 is dedicated to integrating artificial intelligence, robotics, and engineering, as well as developing ties with the European technology ecosystem

The tenth annual “Engineering Week Armenia-2026” has kicked off in Yerevan, with Physical AI – the application of artificial intelligence in physical systems – as its central theme this year. The event is taking place in Engineering City under the motto “Physical AI: Engineering Intelligence in the Real World.” Participants are discussing the transition of AI from the digital environment to machines and robotic systems, as well as related engineering and technological solutions.

David Tadevosyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence of Armenia, stated that the country needs to integrate its engineering competencies more closely into global technological chains. According to him, this requires uniting specialists, scientific and technological resources, education, and business so that Armenian engineering developments can be transformed into products for international markets. The Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos, noted that the development of Physical AI simultaneously increases the importance of security and trust issues.

The European side also views the development of this direction as an opportunity to expand technological cooperation. Maragos reminded that the European AI Act classifies AI systems by risk level, and compliance with these rules opens access for companies to the EU single market with a population of about 450 million people. Julien Schmidt, Director of the EU4Innovation East program, noted the prospects of Physical AI for industry, robotics, healthcare, and other sectors, emphasizing the importance of supporting startups, interaction between science and industry, and the entry of Eastern Partnership companies into international markets.
