American Microchip Technology is considering further expansion of its activities in the regions of Armenia and new investment projects. The prospects for the company's development were discussed by the Minister of High-Tech Industry and AI of Armenia, Davit Tadevosyan, and the Corporate Vice President of Microchip Technology's FPGA division, Shakeel Pirani. The meeting took place on October 1, and the parties separately reviewed the company's work in Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Ijevan.
The meeting participants noted the importance of Microchip Technology's presence for the development of the high-tech sector outside the capital, the training of specialists, and the formation of regional technological ecosystems. Special attention was paid to the export license approved in June 2026 by the Bureau of Industry and Security of the US Department of Commerce for the company's activities in Armenia. The parties discussed the possible impact of this decision on Microchip's future operations, its investment plans, and expansion prospects.
In addition, representatives of the company and the Armenian government reviewed the conditions for importing Microchip products into the country. The ministry reported ongoing consultations with international semiconductor companies and representatives of the US government on forming a classified list of products. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue work on the discussed areas and expand cooperation.
