Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan instructed to more actively develop alternative road routes amid the growing number of cars in the country. According to him, traffic jams already periodically occur on interstate and republican roads, and in the future, the problem may spread to a larger number of highways.
Pashinyan noted that in some cases, alternative roads already exist, but motorists continue to choose familiar routes. He called for creating additional travel options, even if they differ in length, so that different directions can be chosen between the same points and traffic flows can be redistributed.
At the meeting, the government also approved funding for road repairs. 4.6 billion drams will be allocated for the capital restoration of 32.7 km of state roads. Of the total volume, 3.5 km mainly accounts for interstate highways, 9.6 km for republican roads, and another 19 km for regional and local roads leading to schools.
