The UN Human Rights Council unanimously adopted a resolution, prepared by Armenia, on protecting the rights of women and girls in the context of rapid development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. The Armenian side previously reported that the document promotes an inclusive and gender-sensitive approach to digital transformation.
Among the main directions are reducing the gender digital divide, increasing women's participation in the creation and management of AI, as well as countering discrimination and algorithmic bias. Special attention is paid to international cooperation in the field of digital technologies and human rights protection. Such risks are already being considered by UN structures, including problems of gender imbalances in AI data and algorithms.
The initiative was co-authored by about 50 states representing all UN regional groups. Armenia emphasizes that the proportion of women in the country's technology sector is significantly higher than the global average, which allows the republic to act as one of the initiators of international discussion on the role of women in shaping the digital future.
