Rosatom and representatives of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant have confirmed the possibility of safe operation of the second power unit until 2031. This was announced by the Russian state corporation following the fifth meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee, dedicated to the re-extension of the plant's service life.
In 2024–2026, Russian and Armenian specialists inspected buildings and structures with a total area of 15,890 m², and also prepared and approved documentation confirming the safety of the reactor unit's operation until 2031. Representatives from Armenia, Rosatom, and its enterprises participated in the meeting.

Following the meeting, the parties approved an action plan for 2027–2030. In particular, in 2027, a set of measures is planned to improve the key systems of the ANPP. As Evgeny Salkov, General Director of Rosatom Service, stated, these measures are aimed at ensuring the effective operation of the plant until 2036.
