Armenia may gain access to LEO satellite internet

Representatives of Amazon Web Services discussed connecting Armenia to a low-Earth orbit satellite network and prospects for cooperation in artificial intelligence in Yerevan.

In late September, Franco Spicariello, Director of Public Policy at AWS Europe Mediterranean, and Kara Nalbandian, Business Development Manager at AWS Sovereign Cloud, visited Armenia. In Yerevan, they met with David Tadevosyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry and AI.

One of the key topics of discussion was the possibility of connecting Armenia to Amazon LEO — a low-Earth orbit satellite network designed to provide broadband internet access. The project could expand the country's telecommunications capabilities, especially where the development of traditional infrastructure faces difficulties.
