American AECOM connects to the TRIPP project: route engineering reconnaissance starts in Armenia

The company begins a field study of the future transit corridor as part of an initiative related to regional transport connectivity and international infrastructure plans.

In Armenia, the practical stage of preparing the TRIPP project has begun – the American engineering company AECOM has joined the work, sending a team with the support of the US State Department's Global Infrastructure Investment Fund. Specialists have already begun to study the area of the future route and prepare a feasibility study. The delegation was received by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who was presented with the preliminary goals and expected results of the study.

The TRIPP project ("Trump's Route for International Peace and Prosperity") involves the formation of a multimodal transport corridor through the country with a possible connection of the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and inclusion in a wider Trans-Caspian route. During the discussions, the Armenian side emphasized that the initiative is considered a factor in stabilizing the region and expanding transit potential.

According to the preliminary concept, a separate company, TRIPP Development Company, is planned to be created to manage the project with a distribution of shares: 74% could go to the US and 26% would remain with Armenia, with the prospect of changing the structure with a long-term extension of the agreement. The Armenian authorities are betting that the new route can strengthen the country's role as a transit hub and open up additional logistics opportunities for the region.
