Armenia brings aviation insurance to EU standards: a new law for air carriers has been adopted

The document introduces minimum liability requirements for airlines and aviation industry participants

Armenia's National Assembly has approved in the second and final reading a law that establishes unified minimum requirements for the liability insurance of air carriers and aircraft operators. The decision is aimed at modernizing the regulation of the aviation industry and bringing it closer to European norms.

The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Common Aviation Area agreement with the European Union, signed in 2021. The law is designed to bring national legislation into line with EU standards and streamline insurance obligations in the field of air transport.

The document regulates the liability of airlines, as well as the insurance of flight and ground personnel, baggage, cargo, and third parties. In addition, it establishes minimum insurance limits and legal relations between participants in the aviation industry, forming a more transparent regulatory system in the sector.
