Armenian authorities ruled out diesel fuel shortage

Economy Minister said that diversification of supplies helped to curb fuel price growth

There is no shortage of diesel fuel in Armenia, despite possible risks associated with the situation in external markets. This was stated by Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, answering journalists' questions about the potential impact of problems with fuel supplies from Russia.

According to the minister, the republic has already diversified import channels, which allowed reducing dependence on individual suppliers. He recalled that during the crisis associated with Iran, world gasoline prices sharply increased, but in Armenia their increase was significantly less noticeable due to the organization of supplies from new countries. According to Papoyan, this strategy allowed keeping fuel prices at a relatively low level over the past months.

At the same time, official statistics show that prices continue to rise. According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, in May 2026, gasoline in the country rose by 8.9% compared to the same month last year, and diesel fuel by 17.1%. Compared to April, prices increased by 2.9% and 6% respectively.
