Economic activity in Armenia maintains a high growth rate, but individual sectors have faced serious difficulties. Against the backdrop of an increase in the service sector and overall economic growth, the country recorded a decrease in exports and a decline in agriculture.
According to the results of June 2026, economic activity in Armenia grew by 7.7% year-on-year, and for the first six months of the year, the indicator increased by 7.9%. The main driver of growth was the service sector, where rates accelerated to 19.7%. At the same time, the trade sector showed a slight decrease for the first time in a long time – by 0.1%.
One of the main problems remains exports, which decreased by 20.5% in June. Experts attribute this both to possible restrictions on the supply of Armenian products to Russia, and to a decrease in re-export volumes, which previously occupied a significant share of the country's foreign trade.
Negative dynamics are also observed in agriculture. In the first half of the year, the industry contracted by 11.9%. One of the possible reasons is the difficulties with the export of certain types of Armenian agricultural products, especially to the Russian market. At the same time, overall economic growth remains stable due to the development of the service sector and other areas.
