Armenia launched a "smart" greenhouse for $26 million

AI monitors every plant

In the village of Nor Yedesia, Aragatsotn region, the Agro Prom greenhouse complex with an area of 20 hectares has started operating. The project invested 9.7 billion drams, or about $26 million. The enterprise is designed for year-round cultivation of tomatoes and uses AI along with robotic systems to automate production.

Technologies allow monitoring the condition of individual plants, detecting deviations and predicting future harvests. In parallel, an automated system regulates temperature and humidity, manages ventilation, irrigation and nutrient supply.

The greenhouses grow varieties developed in the Netherlands. They are resistant to diseases and suitable for long-distance transportation. For foreign supplies, Agro Prom is creating its own refrigerated logistics system.

The company has already begun expanding production. A new greenhouse with an area of 10 hectares is being built on the complex for growing peppers, for which another 9 billion drams ($24 million) will be allocated. In the future, Agro Prom also intends to engage in the cultivation of blueberries and grapes.
