The Government of Armenia has reallocated 1.1 billion drams to finance works and obligations for various sections of the international "North-South" highway corridor. The decision was made at a government meeting on August 27.
As reported by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudaverdyan, the funds will be used to pay part of the cost of construction works, technical supervision, compensation to landowners, program management and design costs.
Part of the funding will be directed to the restoration of the M6 interstate highway, the reconstruction of the Pushkin Tunnel and the construction of a new Dilijan Tunnel. A separate direction is the work in the south of the country, including the Kajaran-Agarak section and the Kajaran Tunnel.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the construction of the Kajaran-Agarak section and the tunnel is progressing at a high pace. According to him, in 2018-2025, the volume of capital investments in Armenia exceeded the indicators of the Soviet period of 1981-1988.
