Armenia is becoming an air gateway between Asia and Europe: the flow of aircraft has increased 3.5 times

In three years, the sky over the country has become one of the busiest transit routes in the region - tens of thousands of aircraft fly here without landing

70,936 aircraft flew through Armenia's airspace in the first half of 2026. For comparison, in the same period of 2025, the figure was 48,051 aircraft, and in 2024 – only 20,312. Thus, in just three years, the intensity of transit flights in the first six months of the year increased by approximately 3.5 times.

Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudaverdyan called the country's airspace the "crossroads of the world". The growth of transit traffic means that Armenia is increasingly used as a route for flights between various regions, including between Asia and Europe.

At the same time, a significant part of such aircraft do not land in the country: they cross Armenian airspace along transit routes. For Armenia, this is not only a strengthening of its role in regional aviation, but also an additional source of income for the air navigation system and the state budget.
