Armenian authorities are considering the concept of expanding the Yerevan Metro by at least four new stations. According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the new line should pass through the Achapnyak and Academic City districts and connect to the Charbakh station. This will allow for the formation of a more convenient system with the possibility of circular train movement.
One of the key projects will be the Achapnyak station, the construction of which has been discussed for several years. Pashinyan noted that the authorities are considering Russia's participation in its construction, taking into account the accumulated experience in metro construction. At the same time, Achapnyak is considered not as a separate object, but as the beginning of a new stage in the expansion of the Yerevan Metro.
Currently, the Yerevan Metro has 10 stations, and the total length of the lines is 13.4 km. The cost of the program for the construction of the Achapnyak station and related infrastructure in April 2026 was estimated at approximately 107.3 billion drams, or about $300 million. The design and estimate documentation was prepared by the Russian company Metrogiprotrans.
