EAEU strengthens digital marking

Armenia has been a member of the Eurasian Economic Union for 10 years

The heads of government of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union have determined further directions for the development of the digital marking system for goods. As a reminder, Armenia has been a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and a full member since 2015, along with Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, the corresponding issue was considered at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. This refers to the next stage in the evolution of the existing product identification system in the EAEU area.

Taking into account the agreements reached at the summit of union leaders in June 2025, key priorities were identified. These include the integration of the marking system based on the EEC information platform and its technological development, as well as strengthening control over the legality and safety of goods through interfacing with national supervisory systems. Special attention is paid to improving mechanisms to ensure the free movement of marked products within the EAEU.

It is also planned to modernize the information systems of the union, through which data on marked goods is exchanged, including the processes of ordering and issuing codes. According to the Minister of Trade of the EEC, Andrei Slepnev, the marking system as a whole has already been formed, and the next step will be to increase its effectiveness in combating counterfeiting, with an emphasis on controlling the safety and legality of goods when they are put into circulation.
