Electric vehicles imported into Armenia before January 31, 2026, will be exempt from VAT. This was announced by the Minister of Economy of the Republic, Gevorg Papoyan, commenting on the government's initiative to support the market for environmentally friendly transport.
According to him, a bill was presented in the National Assembly the day before, providing for exemption from the 20% VAT on the import of electric vehicles. The benefit will apply to any electric vehicles, regardless of their date of manufacture, if they are imported into the country before the end of January 2026.
In addition, the minister clarified that from February 1 to December 31, 2026, the tax preference will remain for electric vehicles manufactured in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Thus, the authorities expect to stimulate further growth in the import of electric vehicles and accelerate the renewal of the vehicle fleet in the country.
