Armenia and Switzerland Strengthen Ties and Discuss Investments

Yerevan expects to increase exports and attract capital through a preferential trade regime

Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and the new Swiss Ambassador Andrea Barbara Baumann discussed the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the economy and the further application of the GSP preferential trade regime. The meeting took place in Yerevan, where the parties emphasized that this mechanism has already played a significant role in increasing the competitiveness of Armenian products and the growth of mutual trade.

In addition to trade, the interlocutors touched upon the prospects for deepening cooperation in the field of investment. Special attention was paid to creating more favorable conditions for business and expanding economic ties between companies of the two countries.

Gevorg Papoyan also noted the importance of the declaration signed on August 8 in Washington, as well as the "Crossroads of Peace" and TRIPP initiatives, which, according to him, contribute to regional stability and economic development. According to data from Armstat, the trade turnover between Armenia and Switzerland for January-October 2025 reached almost $152.2 million, an increase of 7.3%, while exports increased by 28% to approximately $120.4 million.
