The first robotic surgical operation took place in Armenia, as reported by Yerevan State Medical University. The operation took place at the "SlavMed" Medical Center and became the first procedure in the country's history using a robotic system.
Rector of the University, Armen Muradyan, emphasized that the operation was urological — robotic kidney resection — and was successful. The surgical intervention was performed by urologist Mher Mkhitaryan.
The introduction of robotic surgery opens up new opportunities for medicine in Armenia, increasing the accuracy of operations and minimizing risks for patients, as well as laying the foundation for further development of advanced medical technologies in the country.
