The money intended for the construction of the "Achapnyak" subway station was used to purchase 45 new trolleybuses in Yerevan to support the development of urban transport.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced that the funds originally allocated for the construction of the station were directed to the purchase of 12-meter-long trolleybuses, which will arrive in the city in April–May next year. According to him, the "Achapnyak" project remains one of the most complex and risky in the history of Armenia, requiring significant time and special implementation conditions.
Previously, it was planned to allocate 9.6 billion drams for the station, then the amount was reduced to 1.4 billion, and in the 2026 budget, another 2 billion drams were added for engineering and technical supervision and land acquisition. Avinyan emphasized that the construction of the "Achapnyak" station will be carried out according to international FIDIC standards, and the transport hub will increase the subway's passenger flow by 22–25%.
