The Armenian government has approved a package of amendments to the laws "On Protection of Consumer Rights" and "On Advertising," which should significantly strengthen the protection of citizens' interests. The document aims to create a transparent and competitive environment and provides for the harmonization of national legislation with key directives of the European Union.
The changes affect the rules for concluding distance contracts and agreements outside the office, introduce a ban on unfair terms in consumer contracts, and establish stricter requirements for advertising. Special attention is paid to combating misleading and comparative advertising: if violations are detected, the disputed clauses will be automatically invalidated.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the reform is part of a broader transition to European standards within the framework of the partnership with the EU. According to him, the real effect of the changes is possible only with consistent and systematic implementation of the new norms in practice.
