Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the "In Our Way" movement, announced plans to build an oil refinery in Vanadzor, the third largest city in Armenia. He wrote about this on his Facebook page, citing the successful experience of Saudi Arabia, where after the launch of the refinery, the city's population grew from 65 thousand to 330 thousand people.
According to Karapetyan, the construction of a large industrial facility made it possible to completely solve the problem of unemployment, create thousands of jobs and increase wages. He stressed that a similar effect is possible in Vanadzor if the project is implemented through a combination of public and private investment.
The initiator noted that the launch of the Vanadzor oil refinery could give the city a "second wind" and make it the second fastest growing and economically strong center of the country after Yerevan. According to him, this is how states form a sustainable and competitive economy.
