Yerevan has established special rules for the construction of the "Ajapnyak" metro station

The project will be implemented with international procurement and supervision standards

Yerevan City Hall announced the introduction of special procurement and construction rules for the new 11th metro station, "Ajapnyak," according to Aneta Babayan, adviser to the capital's mayor. The decision was made by the government of Armenia with the aim of integrating international contract management experience into Armenian procurement legislation. Under the new terms, tenders for construction work and technical supervision will be conducted according to internationally recognized standards.

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan instructed that the technical specification for technical supervision services be prepared within two weeks. Initially, construction of the station was planned to begin in 2024, but the deadlines were later moved to the end of 2025 and then to 2026.

The 2025 budget allocated 9.6 billion drams for the metro project, but the amount was reduced to 1.4 billion drams, with part of the funds redirected to the purchase of 45 new 12-meter trolleybuses. The city's 2026 budget additionally earmarks another 2 billion drams for the construction of the station.
