Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced plans to introduce a contactless border control system by the fall of 2027. The new technology will allow citizens to cross the border automatically, using biometric passports, without direct interaction with border service employees. The first point will be Zvartnots Airport, and then the system may be extended to other checkpoints.

The main goal of the initiative is to speed up the border crossing procedure and modernize the infrastructure, making the process more convenient for travelers. The technology involves automatic identification, which will reduce the burden on staff and minimize queues.

The introduction of biometric control also increases security at the border and complies with international standards. Experts believe that such modernization will strengthen Armenia's image as a country actively implementing digital solutions in the field of migration and transport control.
