Construction of the "Ajapnyak" metro station in Yerevan is being postponed

Once again

Yerevan City Hall named the tentative timeframe for holding the tender for the construction of the new "Ajapnyak" metro station.

First Vice Mayor Armen Pambukhchyan reported that the tender could be announced either in 2026 or in 2027, since the preparatory stage and project reviews have finally been completed.

Previously, the timeline for the start of construction was postponed repeatedly: initially, the work was planned to begin in 2024, then it was moved to the end of 2025 and later to 2026. It has been acknowledged that the project review took more time than expected, but now there are no obstacles to launching the tender.

The city budget for implementing the station program in 2025 amounted to 9.6 billion drams, but later the sum was reduced to 1.4 billion drams. Part of the funds was allocated to the purchase of 45 new 12-meter trolleybuses, which also delayed metro financing.
