Construction has begun in Yerevan on the new EU TUMO Engineering and Applied Sciences Complex, which will become the country's largest technology hub. The 18,000 m² building was designed by the world-renowned MVRDV bureau and will combine educational, research, and business spaces. It will house TUMO Labs with free programs for adults, a branch of the French programming school "42 Yerevan", laboratories, co-working spaces, and a conference center, creating a unique ecosystem for startups and scientific projects.
The complex is located next to the TUMO center on Alabyan Street, consists of 6 floors, and stretches for 200 meters. More than 300 modular spaces surround a huge central hall, providing flexibility and comfort for work and study. The architectural concept allows combining education, research, and entrepreneurship in one innovative space.
The project, worth €42.5 million, is being implemented with the support of the EU — a grant of €12.5 million has been allocated through the Simonyan Foundation under the EU for Innovation program. The EU TUMO Convergence Center is expected to strengthen Armenia's position as a regional STEM hub, attracting investment and creating new opportunities for business and science. TUMO CEO Marie Lou Papazian noted that the complex embodies the belief in Armenia's future as an international science and technology center.
