Armenia has started cooperation with leading European universities to develop the concept of an arts cluster in the future Academic City. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan.

According to her, work on the project will be carried out jointly with the University of the Arts London and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The total cost of preparing the concept will exceed 700 thousand pounds sterling: up to 368.7 thousand pounds are provided for cooperation with the British University of the Arts and up to 371.3 thousand pounds for the Scottish Conservatory.

It is expected that the participation of these universities will allow the formation of educational and creative content according to international standards and increase the competitiveness of Armenian education for local and foreign students.

At the same time, work is underway in other areas. In particular, the first stage of the technological cluster project was previously prepared jointly with the Technical University of Munich, and negotiations are currently underway with the University of Cambridge to create a classical educational cluster.

The Academic City is scheduled to launch by 2030. It will be located on two sites - near the 14th quarter of the Achapnyak district and on the territory of the Armenfilm film studio named after Amo Beknazaryan. The campus is supposed to house 16 universities - 8 public and 8 private or international, as well as create four clusters: arts, educational, technological and military.
